As announced last August, Chef Edward Lee, well-known from appearances on Food Network’s Iron Chef America and Top Chef shows, and locally as the owner and executive chef of Old Louisville’s renowned eatery, 610 Magnolia, is opening a new restaurant on the lower level of Actors Theatre.
The restaurant will be named MilkWood, in tribute to Under MilkWood, a play written by Dylan Thomas that characterizes a vibrant and unique community, “much like Louisville,” says Edward Lee. He has developed the restaurant which he believes will create a “comforting and nurturing atmosphere.”
The 75-seat restaurant with 25-seat bar is being billed as “comfort food with an Asian pantry,” with dishes such as Asian Fried Chicken and Smoked Brisket. Appetizers will range in price from $7-$12 and entrees $12-$22.
Chef Kevin Ashworth, a chef at Lee’s 610 Magnolia for the past two years, has been tapped to run the daily operations at MilkWood.
Opening night is set for Friday, February 8th, and MilkWood will subsequently be open Tuesday through Sunday beginning at 5:30 pm. Reservations will be taken starting on February 4th by calling 502-584-MILK or by emailing newrestaurantatactors@gmail.com.
