Derby City Comedy Festival is about to take up residency in our humble little this weekend for the second year in a row.

The festival and most of its shows will center around one of the two rooms “The Box” or “The Showroom” at The Laughing Derby.  It will feature some of the hottest young and seasoned talent from across the United States and Canada.  However, the festivities to plan to spill out into the community with pop-up shows happening in alternative venues all around town in art spaces, theaters, music venues, and even fast food restaurants.

Performers as varied from one another as Elon Altman, Jessica Brodkin, Charles Disney, Tom Gannon, Kazumi Kusano, and Andy Piccaro will all be performing multiple sets throughout the weekend.

Derby City Comedy Festival will be running from September 16th-20th at The Laughing Derby (and elsewhere, see website for further details).  The show times vary and tickets range from $10-$15.

    About Brent Owen

Born and raised in Louisville, I have lived here most of my life (except during a short furlough, when I, lovelorn and naive, followed a girl to Baton Rouge). My roots are here, my family, my friends, and my life are all here. I work primarily as a free-lance writer for a few local and regional publications. I have also written two books (one a memoir, the other a novel) that barring some divine intervention, will probably never see the light of day. I find myself deeply ingrained in the local bar scene, or perhaps better said, I often indulge in the local drinking culture. I love music, movies, comedy, and really just about any other live performance art.
