Adoptable Pets of the Week: Fudge and Fudgesicle from the Animal Care Society
    Print this page

This week’s Louisville.com featured adoptable pets of the week are Fudge, a black and white female Chihuahua, and Fudgesicle, a male Tuxedo kitten.

From ACS: “Four-year old Fudge is one of eleven dogs that were surrendered to a rural county shelter by a backyard breeder and then transferred to ACS. We were told that Fudge fared far better than the other dogs as she was considered a 'house' dog and didn't spend her life living in a small cage outside in the harsh elements. This portly little gal is super friendly and is not your typical Chihuahua. She's a very happy little dog and is quick to make friends with everyone she meets. Fudge, as you would expect, also gets along very well with other little dogs. She's quite content to share the same bed with the other two little Chihuahuas sharing her room. We were told that Fudge is house-trained but the only thing we can confirm for sure is that she is paper-trained. If you've been looking for a happy little canine companion to share your home, one that will love you with every ounce of her 10 pounds, stop by and ask to meet Fudge.”

“Fudgesicle is a handsome little Tuxedo that came to ACS with his five siblings. He is a typical kitten - napping in the sun one minute then scurrying around getting into mischief the next! He is particularly fond of playing with ping pong balls and regularly entertains visitors to the Alice Chiles Cat Room with his silly antics! If you would like Fudgesicle to be your new BFF (Best Feline Friend), just stop by the shelter and ask to meet him.”

If you would like to adopt Fudge or Fudgesicle, or any of the other animals available at ACS, please see the organization’s adoption policy and procedure.

The Animal Care Society is a non-profit, no-kill shelter in Louisville for dogs and cats. Over the last 10 years, ACS has placed over 8,000 pets into loving homes.

ACS has a lot going on right now, including a T-shirt design contest for its annual Bark in the Park walk. Designs are being accepted through July 25.

The organization also had a soft opening of its new Re-Tail Thrift Shop on July 16. The shop, at 10519 Watterson Trail, will have a Grand Opening August 6, and proceeds from sales of new and gently used items will go to support the Animal Care Society. Volunteers at the shop are welcome, and donations of goods can be dropped off at ACS, at 12207 Westport Road.

Follow The Animal Care Society on Facebook, too! Through this Friday, July 18, they are holding a silent auction on Facebook for a huge basket of golf items, including 10 grounds tickets to the 2014 PGA Championship at Valhalla on August 4, so go bid!
