Nine Ways to Help the Animal Care Society Now and in the New Year

My closest friends and I have said many times, “If I could, I’d save them all.” But we can only take in a few of the adoptable pets that are available each year in Louisville. As animal lovers, it hurts to think about the little ones without homes, or worse. That’s why we look for opportunities to support all the animal rescue organizations in Louisville, so that we can help them save homeless, abused and neglected animals, and sometimes help out owners, too, when they fall on hard times.

This is a list of actions you can take now, and through 2015, to support the work of Louisville’s no-kill shelter, The Animal Care Society (ACS). Some involve a little effort, some involved a little money, and some are completely free. How about putting support for this important local organization on your resolution list?

Select The Animal Care Society as your charity to support when you register for the Kroger Community Rewards Program. It’s absolutely free, and ACS receives a small donation every time you use your Kroger Plus Card.

Download the free WoofTrax app, and then choose ACS as your local charity to benefit. Whenever you walk your dog, ACS will receive a small donation.

Pick up one of the plush puppy toys sold at Raising Cane’s Chicken for $8.99. One hundred percent of proceeds go to benefit ACS.

Plan to attend Pearls for the Paws on April 11, 2015. The party and auction will benefit ACS. Tickets will go on sale starting in January 2015.

Like The Animal Care Society on Facebook, so that you can like and share their posts, including adorable pets up for adoption. The more people ACS can reach, the better.

Shop at the Re-Tail Thrift Shop. This cute little store has goodies for your pets, and lots for you too, from home items to fashion to seasonal décor.

If you are so inclined, you can donate to ACS, shop for items on their Amazon Wish List, and donate through Project Warm and Fuzzy.

That’s not even all of the events and projects that ACS puts on throughout the year, so be sure to follow them to keep up with it all and throw them some love. Even if you can’t adopt a new pet anytime soon, you can make a difference.
