Louisville's International Film Fest

The inaugural Louisville's International Festival of Film opens at the Kennedy Center tonight at 7 p.m. with a red carpet reception, followed by a special screening of "The Burning Man," which stars Louisville's Jennifer Lawrence along with Charlize Theron and Kim Bassinger (a cast that makes the film a must-see for the 13 to 18 and male crowd). Tickets are $100 per person and include the champagne toast after-party. Other events throughout the weekend start at $20. Caulk and float your wagon and head one state to our west to sample more than 20 craft and imported beers (none of that regular domestic swill) in a big tent between Rock's Sub Pub and Buckhead Mountain Grill. The festival also features live music, including a polka band. The entry fee is $5 with a portion going to the Red Cross (couldn't the organizers have picked a charity that's not just well-meaning but competent too?). (Via The New Albany news and Tribute)
Tattoo & Body Modification Art Show

The second annual art show will featured live suspensions by Twister Images, fire breathing, henna tattooing, live music, a DJ and Derby City Espresso's usual delicious assortment of craft beers and coffee drinks. In addition the Female Art Collective will be showcasing two of its artists, with prints and wood wall mountings starting at $15 and other items for sale at its mini boutique (which is now open daily at Derby City Espresso).

Based on the New Albanian Brewing Company's website, it looks like this week-long festival is still much in development (it starts in two days guys--I can't imagine what's hampering your productivity, other than big tanks of delicious beer). Its Facebook event page mentions "live music, art, film, and, of course, beer," but without other details. Really, what more do you need for a fest than good beer and the most delicious Croque Madame of your life (and I've consumed a few).
