    Bit to Do

There’s a chill in the air and, maybe, cocoa on the stove—and it’s time for Bardstown Road Aglow. This Saturday, December 4, the Highland Commerce Guild will present “Get Happy and Say Hello to the Highlands” from dusk to 10 p.m.

For this silver anniversary Aglow, many of the Highlands’ shops and restaurants will stay open late and offer discounts, food, drink, live entertainment and warmth. Don’t feel like walking? Two elf-filled trolleys will ride up and down Bardstown, Baxter and around the old Douglass Loop trolley stop offering free rides, and of course you can follow the various carolers and street musicians (yes, there will be bagpipes) while checking out the annual decoration contest, with every kind of business represented along the way.

Of course, Santa will be around, riding around on the Pool Party Express and ultimately landing at Bearno’s for photo ops around 6 o’clock. All Santa picture proceeds will benefit cancer support center Gilda’s Club of Louisville. For the grownups, BBC will have beer specials along the route, and Four Roses Bourbon will host a cocktail contest in participating restaurants and bars. (You may even be able to leave that cocoa at home, but turn off the stove before heading out.)
