Da Vinci Dog Day at the Frazier

This Friday, August 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. outside of the Frazier Museum (829 West Main Street) lunch is on the museum. In celebration of the latest exhibit, Da Vinci--The Genius (which by the way was pretty amazing), a hot dog cart loaded with, well, hot dogs and veggie dogs will be giving away cylindrical treats to any passersby. Use the incentive to visit the museum, witness a live reenactment, and marvel at the pure genius of Da Vinci (who was vegetarian, hence the veggie dogs). Now through September 18th, children 14 and under are admitted free. Come on, they'll do anything to get you in there. Free lunch, free admission-- any more excuses?
First Saturday Show at Squallis Puppeteers

Join Louisville's favorite puppet masters at the School of Sharks Theater (770 Eastern Parkway) this Saturday, August 6 for "Lincoln's Long Road". I've seen that giant Honest Abe puppet (about 4 score and seven years ago) and he can definitely divide a house. Each monthly 1st Saturday show is open to the public and features a family-friendly performance followed by a simple puppet-making workshop. Admission is $5 per person for the performance and $5 per crafted puppet. Doors open at 12:45 and wraps up by 3:00. A creative and cool way to spend Saturday afternoon.
Slow Food Cookout at Foxhollow

Foxhollow Farm also offers a monthly 1st Saturday extravaganza featuring a traditional family picnic style supper prepared with fresh, local, sustainable foods (sorry, no puppets). Get your healthy grub on with the family on a beautiful piece of Kentucky farmland. Graze at the picnic from 12:00-5:00 p.m. while you pick up some local goodies at the farm store or hike the nature trails.
