Have you ever walked into a boutique and felt right at home, as if you were your closet? Or at least what you wish your closet looked like? That was the thought I had I visited Chartreuse Boutique. From maxi dresses to statement necklaces, there is a wide variety of colors and styles to compliment any fashionista's wardrobe.
Susan Krekel, the owner of Charteuse Boutique, opened the original Chartreuse location in 2006 at their former St. Matthews location; the current Lululemon space. Susan refers to that space as her "starter store" because she learned so much while she was there. Susan said that "we had wonderful loyal customers but didn't get a ton of foot traffic, when Westport Village started to take off I knew it would be the perfect fit for Chartreuse." They moved to their current spot less than five years ago.
Susan started Chartreuse when she was fresh out of college, "Louisville only had a few boutique and they were all way out of my price range!" she said. She dreamed of a place where women could go and pick out a great outfit for their weekend without breaking their bank. And "unlike many other stores, Chartreuse usually only get six pieces of any style - so chances are, you are not going to run into your best friend wearing the same outfit!" They receive shipments Monday through Friday, so their selection constantly changes.
Shopping Tip: If you're a budget savvy shopper like me, your favorite spot may be in the upstairs section of the boutique known as the clearance section. This section is not as large as the rest of the boutique but I highly recommend that you at least browse the racks of this section; if you're lucky you'll find a fabulous dress or shirt for a very low price.
You can find Chartreuse Boutique on Facebook or by following them on Instagram, @chartreuseshop. Chartreuse is located in Westport Village across from Wild Eggs.
