    It’s the Halloween season, and that means we’re all desperately seeking candy. Make it local and shop these Louisville candy stores for mouth-watering Halloween and seasonal chocolate et al options. Grab some unique options for your Halloween parties, trick or treaters, special treat bags for your children, or teacher’s gifts as a thank you this fall season.

    This candy store in NuLu specializes in handmade and hand-crafted candies, chocolates, bourbon balls, caramels, and those Louisville originals: modjeskas. During the holidays, their glass cases are always full of seasonal goodies and for Halloween, you can’t go wrong at Muth’s: they’ve been at it since 1921.

    This is another local candy shop that has been in business here in Louisville since 1946. For Halloween, they offer two dark and two milk chocolate mini truffles in a pumpkin box ($4.50). They have plenty of goodies for October 31, and kids in costume get free candy on Friday. They provide local delivery in Louisville, call the store or email eatabonbon@dundeecandy.com.

    Welcome to yet another business that has been around Kentuckiana for a very long time. Schimpff’s knows how to do candy right, and how to give their customers great service and a great experience. They are known for families and locals coming to the store to watch their candy being made right on the marble slab countertops, especially their trademark peppermint candy during the holidays. You have to visit them and support their business, which is one of the oldest operating family-owned candy businesses in the U.S., since 1891! They also have a museum, a deli, and offer gift certificates. They are only open 10am-5pm each day, and is closed on Sundays.

    Fuzziwig’s is a locally owned and operated franchise located just outside the Oldham County line in Prospect. They have a very colorful candy display throughout their entire store, and they have tables to enjoy your candy after you pick it out, and games to play together. They also have a party room where they host birthday parties at their store. They are sure to have some unique Halloween creations awaiting you and your families.

    Upon popping onto their Facebook page for this piece, I was immediately greeted by some spooky looking pirate and skull shaped chocolates, which are perfect for Halloween. They have these delicacies as well: fudge apples. Enough said-go shop there and get your seasonal goodies!

    Here’s their recent post on their Facebook page: “Halloween is right around the corner. If you are looking for some treats for your little ones, we offer non-alcoholic nut free chocolates. We are the only nut free chocolate/candy shop in Louisville.” Known for their bourbon truffle making, this is a great option in downtown Louisville to find those special seasonal candies for your chocolate lovers.

    They offer a fabulous fall collection with autumn flavors to enjoy like the fall window box, the chocolate acorn, or the chocolate pumpkin. Here’s a description of their chocolate acorn from their Facebook page: “The Chocolate Acorn features a hand-painted milk chocolate exterior shell and is filled with four chocolate pieces: the pumpkin spice dome (dark chocolate filled with pumpkin spice-infused milk chocolate), caramel pumpkin square (buttery caramel infused with pumpkin spice and bourbon), maple crescent (dark chocolate, filled with white chocolate ganache and real maple), and hazelnut (dark chocolate filled with hazelnut paste and milk chocolate ganache).” Ghyslain also has a location in Westport Village.
