    Bit to Do

Papa John’s has set quite the precedent for giving back to the community from whence it sprang.

Whether or not you like the pizza, there is no arguing that Mr. Schnatter and company have done quite a good job of maintaining an open and giving relationship with the Louisville community – whether it be in the form of massive donations to the zoo, the presence of a certain giant structure that looms next to I-65, or localized investment in the under-the-radar sport of cyclecross.

And now, the food giant has inked a promotional deal to aid the local movie-making scene.

The Derby City Film Festival – the independent movie event headed into its fourth year of focusing “on independent films and filmmakers rather than celebrities and hype” – announced this week that Papa John’s has agreed to a partnership they are referring to as “Dollar$ for DCFF.”

The deal will work like this: Starting this Tuesday (November 16th) and continuing through July 2011, anytime you order a pizza on Tuesday from a Louisville area corporate run Papa Johns, you can ask for your order to credit the film festival and the group will receive 20% of the proceeds from your purchase. This promotion will be good for in store orders, phone orders and online orders. (Just make sure you enter “DCFILMFESTIVAL” in the PROMO CODE box before completing your internet request.)

The Festival promises that all proceeds raised from this partnership will be used to “help the festival cover operating costs and establish awards that will be presented to winning filmmakers.”

The 2011 Derby City Film Festival is scheduled to take place February 18th - 20th, 2011.
