    Blu-Ray and DVD:

Avatar – James Cameron’s sci-fi epic (think “Fern Gully” meets “Dune”) is released in a 3-Disc set which contains the theatrical release, the Special Edition re-release, and one with even MORE footage. Looks like I’m going to have to clear off the calendar for this one…

Best Worst Movie – Documentary about the making of one of the worst movies ever, “Troll 2.”

Cats and Dogs: the Revenge of Kitty Galore – Sequel to the initial “Cats and Dogs,” has rogue agent Kitty Galore scheming to take over the world.

A Christmas Carol – Jim Carrey’s animated self is in this Robert Zemeckis CG-rendered telling of the classic Dickens tale. Comes in 2D and 3D versions.

Clash of the Titans 3D – Sam Worthington takes on the role of Perseus in this mediocre version of the 80’s cult classic, this time in 3D.

The Extra Man – Paul Dano is a teacher who, due to an altercation, leaves it all to be a writer in New York City where he learns from roommate Kevin Kline how to be an “extra man” for aging billionaire widows.

The Last Airbender – M. Night’s take on the anime TV series.

Lottery Ticket – Bow Wow gets a $270 million winning lottery ticket but has to make it through the next three days before he can cash it.

The Kids Are All Right – Julianne Moore and Annette Bening are a couple raising teens who contact their “donor dad” (Mark Ruffalo).

Modern Times – Charlie Chaplin is The Tramp, struggling to live in modern industrial society with the help of a young, homeless woman.

Mutiny on the Bounty – Digibook version of the Charles Laughton and Clark Gable classic based on the novel about a ship’s evil captain and mutiny, just like the title said.

Night of the Hunter – Criterion edition of the film about a creepy, tattooed traveling preacher (Robert Mitchum) who is found out by the children of a woman he is marrying (Shelley Winters).

Open Season – Animated movie about a bear (voiced by Martin Lawrence) who finds himself a partner with a mule deer (Ashton Kutcher) and having to band together with other animals to ensure their survival.

The Polar Express – Tom Hanks’s animated self in a different kind of Christmas classic that Zemeckis also directed.

    About Chas Andrews

Indicative of Louisville? I'd say so. Good food and great atmosphere on Sunday nights with the live music.
