Archie Borders, a Louisville filmmaker, has been filming “Pleased to Meet Me,” his third full-length film in Louisville for a few weeks. The film was inspired by a segment of “This American Life” titled “Everybody Speaks Elton John.” The film was financed on Kickstarter.

The film stars musicians Aimee Mann, Loudon Wainwright III, Joe Henry, and John Doe, along with Karin Bergquist, Morgan Nagler and Katie O'Brien. Borders says the film is about a group of musicians who are recruited through craigslist and classified ads to create a musical project over the course of a single day. “We wanted rock stars who could act as opposed to actors trying to play rock stars,” he said of the cast.

Tonight, the film needs about 800 extras for a huge concert scene. It is being filmed at the Brown Theatre downtown at 5:30 tonight. For more information on the project, you can check out the Kickstarter page, and you can listen to the original segment it was based on here.
