    The Youth Performing Arts School is set to present The Nerd, which will premiere May 7.

    All performances of The Nerd will take place at YPAS, located at 1517 S. 2nd Street near the Old Louisville section. Performances are set to take place on May 7, 8, and 14 at 7:30 p.m. each night. A matinee performance will occur on May 15 at 2 p.m.

    Tickets for The Nerd are $9 for adults, $8 for students, and $8 for senior citizens. Tickets may be purchased, and more information about the show may be found, by going online to the .

    The Nerd centers on the lives of Willum Cubbert, an architect who's life was saved in Vietnam, and Rick Steadman, the man who saved him. Willum comes to find that Rick is not only inept, leading to a comedy of incidents, but also may not know when he has stayed too long in Willum's place.

    The Nerd, created by Larry Shue, went to Broadway in 1987 and 1988 for 441 performances at the Helen Hayes Theatre. Mark Hamill, of Star Wars fame, performed as Willum during the run.
