YPAS opens its season tackling the serious issue of gun violence in Bang, Bang You're Dead, which continues this weekend.

Bang, Bang You're Dead takes place on Oct. 4 and 5 at 7:30 p.m. each night. Both performances are to happen at the Youth Performing Arts School, located at 1517 S. 2nd Street in the Old Louisville area.

Tickets for each show are $10 for general admission. All tickets can be purchased at the door or at the YPAS website.

Bang, Bang You're Dead deals with the causes and effects of a school shooting. Josh, from his jail cell, recounts the day that he murdered his parents and then five classmates. As he speaks, the ghosts of those he has killed enter into his life and ask him why they were killed.

William Mastrosimone created the play with the intention of raising awareness of school violence. The production was inspired by several school shootings of the late 1990s, specifically the Thurston High School shooting in Springfield, OR, where Kip Kinkel murdered two classmates after first murdering his parents.

More information on the show can be found at the YPAS website.
