In Bill C. Davis's Mass Appeal, Fr. Farley, an elder priest, and Mark Dolson, a younger seminarian, find themselves at odds both in personality and ideology. The two attempt to make good priests out of each other but soon find themselves learning more about the values of courage, love, and friendship.
J.R. Stuart directed the two-man production and also stars as Father Tim Farley. Aaron Johnson stars as Dolson.
A version of Mass Appeal opened at the Manhattan Theatre Club before spending 1981 and 1982 on Broadway at the Booth Theatre. The production won an Outer Critic's Circle Award. Mass Appeal also became a critcally-acclaimed movie with Jack Lemmon and Charles Durning.
