    The new Southwest Regional Library opened its doors on October 5, and they have been busy ever since. Check out their community-driven programming now and throughout November.

    • The library has been having a Job Fair every Monday in October from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. The last one is Monday, October 27.
    • Take your children to their weekly storytime offerings on Wednesdays:  9:15 a.m. (babies), 10 a.m. (toddlers), and 11 a.m. (preschoolers)
    • Make plans to check out the Everyday Learning: A National Center for Families Learning Reading Workshop on October 29 at 6pm. It is a special interactive preschool program that is aimed at getting families excited about learning together; a meal provided as part of program. Space is limited; call 502-933-0029.
    • Is your child ready for kindergarten? A JCPS school readiness workshop will be held on Thursday, October 23 at 6 p.m. There will be activities to help parents with prepping for school; refreshments will be provided.
    • Attend the KentuckianaWorks (presented by KCAC) Defaulted Student Loan Workshop on Thursday, October 23 at 6 p.m.
    • Share A Story is a huge celebration of reading that is occurring at four libraries on Saturday, October 25 from 10 a.m. – Noon. There will be local celebrity book readings and many literacy-related activities. Children and families are also eligible for free books at the event. It is presented in partnership with National Center for Families Learning, the Courier-Journal, and WHAS11.

    Check out these upcoming programs and events for November:

    Reading ROCks: November 1, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

    Join us and the National Children’s Study Regional Operations Center (ROC) Central with author “Super Reader” Floyd Stokes for this free family event. Activities will include book readings, parent workshops, children’s crafts and book giveaways. Call 933-0029 to RSVP by October 25.

    Healthy Eating for the Family: November 5, 6:30 p.m.

    Presented by Norton Healthcare for children and parents. Call 933-0029 to register.

    Mobile Planetarium: November 8, 2 p.m.

    Tour the night sky with the University of Louisville’s Portable Planetarium      

    Tribute to Our Veterans: November 11, 6 p.m.

    Enjoy a musical tribute to our Veterans from the 113th Army Band Dragoons.

    GED Ready Test with JCPS Adult Education: November 12, 5 p.m. –or– November 14, 9:30 a.m.

    KentuckianaWorks KCAC presents: Career Interest Workshop: November 13, 6 p.m.

    Discover your career interests through career exploration, testing and interpretation.

    Southwest History with Tom Owen: November 13, 6:30 p.m.

    Southwest How-to Fest: November 15, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

    Learn 30 things in 3 hours! An A-Z of topics including cooking, gardening and more! All ages.

    Paying for College 101: November 22, 1 p.m.

    KHEAA will outline the nuts and bolts of the financial aid application process.
