“Zero Tolerance is starting point of diverse universe – nomadic performance festival through the East- South- West- and North-Europe.”
Thus is the [somewhat awkward] description of this year’s Zero Tolerance Performance Festival. The idea is simple, yet grand: a tour throughout Europe of artists of all kinds – music, spoken word, performance pieces, visual arts, etc. It began in April and will continue on until July. Hundreds are participating, and not just from Europe. The scale is international, with artists from Africa, Asia, South America, and the United States – including, yes, some folks from right here in Louisville.
Local band Son of the Widow has been described as “a genre-crossing combination of world progressive rock & pop interwoven with metal… The overall sound is very much east meets west – innovative yet interactive and accessible.”
Son of the Widow has returned and will be performing this evening at the Haymarket Whiskey Bar in celebration of the premiere of their film “Natural LSD.” This 30-minute film documents their tour throughout Estonia with prominent local poet Ron Whitehead and Estonian band NonGrata.
“Natural LSD” screens at 8:00 with music by Son of the Widow commencing at 9:00. They will also be joined by local Bluegrass group Silo Family Band and the Cincinnati folk/Americana band Elia Goat & the Natural Horns.
The Haymarket Whiskey Bar is located at 331 E. Market Street (in the space which formerly held Derby City Espresso). Cover charge for a film plus three great performances is only $5 – so you will have plenty of dollars leftover to spend on delicious whiskey (I highly recommend Booker’s bourbon). Buy some for the bands, too – I’m sure they’ll appreciate it.
