Area couple Jeremy and Meredith Kruer are attempting to do something unique- and something that can greatly improve not just their own lives but the life of a child as well, this is because the Kruers have been taking steps to adopt a child from Ethiopia. A long journey the adoption process will cost the couple $ 30,000 dollars, and rather than scrounging to pay all the expenses the family decided to host a charity run.
The R2B1H 5K Race came to fruition Saturday, as runners came to Long Run Park to raise money for the couple in the 5K race as well as one mile family fun walk.
Meredith Kruer summed up the idea of the walk better than I ever could on her blog titled, “Hitting the Pavement,” on TheirWorldWillChange.com. In it Kruer makes this proclamation, “This weekend we will hit the pavement again, but this time for adoption, our adoption, our child. We will hit the pavement for orphan care awareness, for all the kids out there domestic and international who have no mom or dad, no food, water, clothes, a home, or just someone to love them.”
It’s those types of words that are powerful, and in them one finds their beauty. And, at the end of the day these events allow us as a community to support one another. It’s what gives a community a sense of togetherness, compassion, and helpfulness.
Welcoming corporate as well as individual sponsorship the race attempted to aid wherever it could, and it did just that.
