This past week a few friends and I took a trip to Bardstown Road in search of a place to stuff our faces and share our stories. This was definitely not the first time we had ventured out this way looking for a greasy slice of pizza to swallow down without a worry in the world, but it was a completely new experience for us when we stepped into Za's Pizza Pub.
Located at 1573 Bardstown Road, Za's has a space filled with pool tables and other forms of entertainment, and hosts a happy hour every day from 4 to 7. They are also an open-air restaurant during more comfortable and warm days, opening their front windows to allow a nice breeze to come in and give you a completely unobstructed view of the almost always busy, beautiful, sometimes bizarre expanse of Bardstown Road.
After being met by a very personable server I turned my attention to the food choices that the pub was offering. Ranging from 10'' to 16'' the pizzas are priced based on size and toppings unless you get a specialty pizza with predetermined toppings. They also offer calzones, subs, sides, and salads. On this particular outing we ordered a 10'' cheese pizza for $9.75, a cheese calzone for $7.95, and cheese sticks for $6.95. It had not even been a full ten minutes before a fully-cooked New York-style pizza, a larger-than-life calzone, and an enticing plate of cheese sticks made its way to our table and from there to our satisfied stomachs.
Za's Pizza Pub's website has a menu that is available for viewing at any time, and if you are within the range depicted in their "delivery" tab you can simply wait for it at home!
