The Roast Crew is on fire, hot off the heels of the wonderful Roast of Harry Potter. This time the group aims to fire at something less dark but equally sacred: “Toy Story.” Well, Buzz Lightyear to be exact.
The Crew is going to pull out all your favorite Pixar characters, dust them off and then repaint them with a varnish of the obscene. You'll most likely never look at the computer generated image of a dinosaur the same way again.
But that’s what they do, and they do it so well – deconstructing and satirizing everything that pop-culture has deemed sacred and unacceptable for parody. They aren’t afraid, and they aren’t nostalgic, so they have no problem eviscerating any notion of sanctity you may have hung on childhood conviction.
This time, in the warped collective mind of The Roast Crew, Buzz Lightyear is having another existential crisis: he can’t accept the fact that he’s a cartoon. But with the help of a staged intervention by Woody and some of your favorite Pixar Characters, Buzz will be forced to confront, once again, the reality of his situation.
With Mark Parris as Woody, Patrick Passafiume as Buzz Lightyear, Sean Keller as Randy Newman, Raanan Hershberg as Mr. Potato Head, Mandee McKelvey as Dori ("Finding Nemo"), Darren Jaz Rodgers as Frozone ("The Incredibles"), Kent Carney as Sully ("Monsters Inc"), Tyler Jackson as Tow Mater ("Cars") and surprise guest appearances by Daniel Craig Williams and Sean Smith.
There will be four shows: August 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. both nights. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door. The Roast Shows generally sell out, so you might consider buying tickets in advance.
