The Avett Brothers hail from Concord, North Carolina and are darlings of the indie world, their music harkening back to traditional country, folk, and bluegrass roots, but with rock and roll and punk sensibilities, similar to another local favorite band, the Old Crow Medicine Show.

Brothers Scott and Seth Avery play banjo and guitar primarily and are joined by bass player Bob Crawford, and often cellist Joe Kwon to round out the band. Their latest release was the critically praised I and Love and You from last year, which peaked at #16 on the Billboard Chart. They were also named one of Rolling Stones' Artists to Watch for 2009.

They will release their third live album, Volume Three in October and just premiered a new video for the song, “Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise” on NPR's All Songs Considered.

For a taste of an Avett Brothers live show, see the video below.

The Avett Brothers will appear on Sunday, July 25 at 5:00 p.m. on the main stage of HullabaLOU Festival at Churchill Downs. Visit the official site for details, tickets, and the schedule for all bands over the three-day music festival. You can also download a free HullabaLOU app for the iPhone from the Apple's App Store.
