New Jersey comes to Louisville's Churchill Downs in the form of a legendary rock band. Veteran arena rockers Bon Jovi will take their music and three decades of hits to Louisville with its headlining performance on HullabaLOU Music Festival's opening night.
Bon Jovi features the arena rock of Jon Bon Jovi (lead singer and principal songwriter), Richie Sambora (lead guitar, backing vocals, songwriter), David Bryan (keyboards, backing vocals), Tico Torres (drums and percussion), and Hugh McDonald (bass). The band is perhaps best known for its string of 80s singles, including Living on a Prayer, You Give Love a Bad Name, Wanted Dead or Alive (all from Slippery When Wet, the band's biggest selling album). The band also scored major hits in the last decade with It's My Life and Who Says You Can't Go Home, the latter of which earned them a Grammy.
Despite being more than 25 years into its career, Bon Jovi remains a powerhouse in the music industry. The band has sold more than 120 million copies of their albums worldwide. The last two albums, Lost Highway (released in 2007) and The Circle (current release) debuted at Number One on the Billboard album charts. The Circle Tour has also been declared one of the highest grossing tours of the year, according to Billboard online. Bon Jovi has also earned numerous awards, including Grammys, MTV Music Video Awards, and American Music Awards, and are members of the UK Music Hall of Fame.
Bon Jovi is the headliner for night one of the HullabLOU festival. The band will perform on the HullabaLOU stage at Churchill Downs beginning at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, July 23. Tickets are available for Hullabalou at this website. IPhone users can download a HullabaLOU app here. The schedule for all bands in the musical festival can be found here.
