Those were just a few of the highlights for Louisville natives and University of Louisville products in Week 16 of the NFL season. Here’s a quick look at how they all did:
Louisville natives
Brandon Dunn (Chicago): The rookie defensive tackle, a Pleasure Ridge Park High School graduate and UofL product, tallied one tackle and one pass defended in the Bears’ 20-14 loss to visiting Detroit on Sunday. Chicago (5-10) plays at Minnesota at 1 p.m. this coming Sunday. Corey Peters (Atlanta): The fifth-year defensive tackle, a Central High School graduate and former University of Kentucky standout, tallied two tackles - including his second sack of the season - in his second start of the season in the Falcons’ 30-14 win at New Orleans on Sunday afternoon. Atlanta (6-9) hosts Carolina at 4:25 p.m. this coming Sunday for the NFC South title.
Alfonso Smith (San Francisco): The fifth-year running back, a Waggener High School graduate and former UK standout, had two rushes for 14 yards, two catches for 9 yards and also tallied a tackle in the 49ers’ 38-35 overtime loss to visiting San Diego on Saturday night. San Francisco (7-8) hosts Arizona at 4:25 p.m. this Sunday.
C.J. Spillman (Dallas): The sixth-year defensive back and special teams standout, a Central grad and former Marshall University standout, tallied three tackles in the Cowboys’ 42-7 clobbering of visiting Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon. Dallas (10-5) plays at Washington at 1 p.m. this coming Sunday.
Former UofL players
Gary Barnidge (Cleveland): The seventh-year tight end didn’t play in the Browns’ 17-13 loss at Carolina on Sunday afternoon. Cleveland (7-8) at Baltimore at 1 p.m. this coming Sunday.
Josh Bellamy (Chicago): The rookie wideout played, but didn’t register a reception in the Bears’ 20-14 loss to visiting Detroit on Sunday afternoon. Chicago (5-10) plays at Minnesota at 1 p.m. this coming Sunday.
Teddy Bridgewater (Minnesota): The rookie quarterback completed 19 of 26 passes for 259 yards for two touchdowns and one interception in the Vikings’ last-minute 37-35 loss at Miami on Sunday afternoon. Minnesota (6-9) hosts Chicago at 1 p.m. this coming Sunday.
Preston Brown (Buffalo): The rookie inside linebacker tallied two tackles in the Bills’ 26-24 loss at Oakland on Sunday afternoon. Buffalo (8-7), which has been eliminated from playoff contention, plays at New England at 1 p.m. this coming Sunday.
Harry Douglas (Atlanta): The sixth-year wide receiver had four catches for 47 yards in the Falcons’ 30-14 win at New Orleans on Sunday afternoon. Atlanta (6-9) hosts Carolina at 4:25 p.m. this Sunday for the NFC South title.
Elvis Dumervil (Baltimore): The outside linebacker, who is in his ninth season, had one tackle in the Ravens’ 25-13 loss at Houston on Sunday afternoon. Baltimore (9-6), who are still in the mix for a wild-card playoff spot, hosts Cleveland at 1 p.m. this coming Sunday.
William Gay (Pittsburgh): The cornerback, who is in his eighth season, tallied six tackles in the Steelers’ 20-12 win over Kansas City on Sunday afternoon. Pittsburgh (10-5), which has clinched a playoff spot, can clinch the AFC North with a win over Cincinnati at 8:30 p.m. this coming Sunday night.
Breno Giacomini (New York Jets): The seventh-year starting offensive tackle and the Jets lost 17-16 to visiting New England on Sunday afternoon. New York (3-12) visits Miami at 1 p.m. this coming Sunday.
Senorise Perry (Chicago): The rookie running back was active, but didn’t register a carry or tackle in the Bears’ 20-14 loss to visiting Detroit on Sunday. Chicago (5-10) plays at Minnesota at 1 p.m. this coming Sunday.
Bilal Powell (New York Jets): The fourth-year running back (pictured above) had five carries for 21 yards and two catches for 13 yards in the Jets’ 17-16 loss to visiting New England on Sunday afternoon. New York (3-12) visits Miami at 1 p.m. this coming Sunday.
Calvin Pryor (New York Jets): The rookie free safety tallied a season-high nine tackles for the Jets in their 17-16 loss to visiting New England on Sunday afternoon. New York (3-12) visits Miami at 1 p.m. this coming Sunday.
Marcus Smith (Philadelphia): The rookie linebacker was inactive for the Eagles in their 27-24 loss at Washington on Saturday afternoon. Philadelphia (9-6), who have been eliminated from playoff contention, visits the New York Giants at 1 p.m. this coming Sunday.
Byron Stingily (Tennessee): The fourth-year offensive tackle started for the Titans in their 21-13 loss at Jacksonville on Thursday night. Tennessee (2-13), which has lost nine games in a row, hosts Indianapolis at 1 p.m. this coming Sunday night.
Eric Wood (Buffalo): The sixth-year center made his 78th consecutive start in the Bills’ 26-24 loss at Oakland on Sunday afternoon. Buffalo (8-7) visits New England at 1 p.m. this coming Sunday.
