Here’s a quick look at how Louisville natives and University of Louisville products did in Week 2 of the NFL season.
Louisville natives
Corey Peters (Atlanta): The fifth-year defensive tackle, Central High School graduate and former University of Kentucky standout, tallied two tackles in the Falcons’ 24-10 loss at Cincinnati.
C.J. Spillman (Dallas): The sixth-year defensive back, a Central grad and former Marshall University standout, didn’t play in the Cowboys’ surprising 26-10 win at Tennessee.
Garry Williams (Carolina): The sixth-year offensive tackle, a Seneca High School grad and former UK standout, didn’t play in the Panthers’ 24-7 win over Detroit.
Former UofL players
Gary Barnidge (Cleveland): The tight end, who is in his seventh season, had four catches for 41 yards for the Browns, who played without starter Jordan Cameron, in their last-second 26-24 win over New Orleans. Barnidge had a 10-yard reception on fourth-and-6 to keep the Browns’ game-winning drive alive.
Josh Bellamy (Chicago): The third-year wide receiver, who was activated off the practice squad due to injuries to standout wideouts Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffrey, didn’t have a catch in his debut with the Bears in their come-from-behind 28-20 Sunday night win at San Francisco.
Teddy Bridgewater (Minnesota): The rookie quarterback didn’t play - despite the fact that starting quarterback Matt Cassel threw four interceptions - in the Vikings’ 30-7 loss to New England.
Preston Brown (Buffalo): The rookie, who started at inside linebacker, tallied a team-high 13 tackles in the Bills’ 29-10 win over Miami. In two games Brown has 20 tackles.
Harry Douglas (Atlanta): The wide receiver, who is in his sixth season, had four catches for 38 yards in the Falcons’ 24-10 loss at Cincinnati.
Elvis Dumervil (Baltimore): The outside linebacker, who is in his ninth season, tallied two tackles - both sacks - off the bench for the Ravens in their 26-6 win over Pittsburgh on Thursday night.
William Gay (Pittsburgh): The cornerback, who is in his eighth season, had one tackle off the bench in the Steelers’ 26-6 loss at Baltimore on Thursday night.
Breno Giacomini (New York Jets): Giacomini started at right tackle for the Jets in their 31-24 loss at Green Bay.
Senorise Perry (Chicago): The rookie running back returned one kickoff for 21 yards in the Bears’ come-from-behind 28-20 win at San Francisco.
Bilal Powell (New York Jets): The fourth-year running back had four carries for 16 yards and two receptions for 32 yards in the Jets’ 31-24 loss at Green Bay.
Calvin Pryor (New York Jets): The rookie free safety, and first-round draft pick in this past spring’s draft, had five tackles - but was burned on Jordy Nelson’s 80-yard touchdown reception with 2:08 to play - in the Jets’ 31-24 loss at Green Bay.
Greg Scruggs (Seattle): The third-year defensive end didn’t play in the Seahawks’ 30-21 loss at San Diego.
Marcus Smith (Philadelphia): The rookie linebacker, who was a first-round draft pick, didn’t play in the Eagles’ last-second 30-27 victory at Indianapolis on Monday night.
Byron Stingily (Tennessee): The fourth-year offensive tackle didn’t play in the Titans’ surprising 26-10 loss to Dallas.
Eric Wood (Buffalo): Wood, in his sixth year in the league, started at center - his 65th consecutive start - for the Bills in their 29-10 victory over Miami.
