Kick off the month of October with the Highland Cup 5K Run/Walk, a 3.1 mile loop from Douglas Boulevard Christian Church to Big Rock and back. The event is Saturday, October 1 at 8:00 a.m., to be followed by a pancake breakfast at the church from 8:30-9:30.
The course is a challenging hilly course winding through one of Louisville’s most scenic neighborhoods past beautiful historic homes and into Cherokee Park. The Highland Cup is a great opportunity to test your endurance on the hills or enjoy a stroll and savor a lovely fall morning with your family.
The race is a benefit for Highland Community Ministries [4], an organization of churches in the that provide the Highlands community eldercare services, day care, individual and family assistance, youth sports programs and more.
If you have a need for speed, there will be awards for top runners. The top 3 overall male and female runners will receive awards, and there will be an award for the top two runners by age group (9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60 and over)
Registration for the race is $22 for an adult, $17 for youth. Participants will receive a high quality race t-shirt and other swag. Register in-store at Fleet Feet [5] or online here [6].
The pancake breakfast is $4 for race participants, $5 for adults, and $3 for children 14 & under. Tickets for the breakfast will be sold at the door.
