Hello, my name is Julie Lamb, and I am a chocoholic. But Homemade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen's Caramel Iced Dutch Apple Pie enticed me away from my chocolate addiction to apple pie heaven.
I could eat pie at Homemade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen year-round, but there is nothing quite like eating 30-second heated up pie that warms you to your soul in chilly weather.
I have had many great dates there. What better way to vie for someone's heart than through one of the very best dessert spots in Louisville? Split one portion of pie and ice cream, or better yet, split two pies and two kinds of ice cream, and have a glorious taste of it all.
It tastes even better than it looks
Gooey, hot pie with a caramel crunch is perfected when paired with some delightfully creamy ice cream.
And if you want to pass off a homemade pie that you did not actually have the time to make as your own, I have seen it successfully done at many Thanksgiving shindigs.
I will never get tired of this place. That is why when I heard my friend Morgan had never visited this lovable eatery, I could not wait for her to indulge in the ultimate pie experience!
Normally, I go for the Pecan Chocolate Chip Pie (essentially Pie Kitchen's version of Derby pie), but something about the Thanksgiving season beckoned me towards my other favorite pie: the Caramel Iced Dutch Apple Pie. It is hands down the best apple pie I have ever had. I love the Birthday Party and Pumpkin Ice Cream there, but this time, I had to go for the Coconut Almond Fudge Ice Cream to still get my decadent chocolate fix.
Morgan went for the Lemon Chess Pie with one of my favorite ice creams: Pumpkin Ice Cream. I am a stereotypical fall girl who is obsessed with all things pumpkin, and they make some killer Pumpkin Ice Cream.
As Pie Kitchen was about to close, a gallant husband dashed in, heroically exclaiming, "I'm sorry, my wife's pregnant!" You know this place is good when it satisfies a pregnancy craving.
Give thanks this year that Louisville has such amazing desserts. And then venture out and savor some!
