    Bit to Do

National Peanut Butter Day with The Comfy Cow
    Print this page

Ever since Dr. John Harvey Kellogg, father of Kellogg’s cereal, first discovered how to transform raw peanuts into peanut butter, peanut butter has become a staple cravings indulgence. Whether creamy, crunchy, paired with jam, or swirled with chocolate, we truly love this versatile treat. Tim Koons-McGee, founder of beloved local ice cream shop The Comfy Cow, cares about respecting delicious American treasures, including our boundless joy for all things peanut butter.

For this reason, on Saturday, January 24th a.k.a. National Peanut Butter Day, The Comfy Cow will be offering Free Peanut Butter Topping with any purchase, at all of their Louisville and Indiana locations. Koons-McGee said, “As a peanut butter addict, I felt it extremely important to honor this sacred day with something special. We think our homemade peanut butter topping is that and more!” If it’s anything like The Comfy Cow's homemade fudge, you can bet it will be worth any trek to obtain this complimentary delight.

Just picture the myriad of January flavor/free peanut butter topping combinations that scrumptiously await you:

    • It’s Gonna Be A Rocky Road: Signature chocolate ice cream loaded with Barry Callebaut dark chocolate pieces, swirls of marshmallow fluff, and toasted walnuts. Can you really go wrong with the ice cream relative of a s'more/peanut butter hybrid?

    • Bonjour Toast: A breakfast-turned-ice cream splendor, also with those famous Barry Callebaut dark chocolate pieces, folded into a cinnamon ice cream- and winner of the “Kids Creative Concoction” contest to benefit the Louisville Children’s museum. Children know their breakfast and desserts- and they also are mini-peanut butter experts. Make sure to enjoy this tasty holiday with your family!

    • Banana Nana Fonana: A simple, yet timeless banana ice cream, made with only the ripest, sweetest bananas… and a glorious candidate for celebrating National Peanut Butter day.

    • Southern Jam Cake: Caramel flavored ice cream loaded with pieces of The Comfy Cow’s own homemade jam cake and a swirl of blackberry jam – an innovative spin on a traditional Kentucky dessert. Plus, a cold, creamy twist on the PB&J classic, if you opt for the free topping route.

Other January seasonal flavors include three of my personal favorites: Secretariat, The Doctor’s Cure, and Mocha Almond Fudge, as well as Chocolate Squared2 and Coo Coo For Coconut.

Secretariat: The world’s finest Barry Callebaut white chocolate ice cream with pieces of The Comfy Cow's homemade-from-scratch Blueberry cobbler. In honor of the famed Meadow Stables’ blue and white silks and the beloved Triple Crown Winner that wore them.

The Doctor's Cure: Brown butter and Old Forester bourbon-based ice cream, loaded with The Comfy Cow's housemade spiced, sugared pecans and swirls of bourbon caramel. Developed for the local restaurant Doc Crow’s (located downtown- and perpetually on the dessert menu there). If you are a true Kentuckian, you will fall head over heels in bourbon ice cream love.

Mocha Almond Fudge: The Comfy Cow added toasted chopped almonds, ribbons of its rich chocolate fudge (sneak preview: superb), complete with a touch of chocolate to this revamped coffee ice cream.
