So you’re in town for the Derby Festival. Or maybe you’re new to the city and want a great cup of coffee. What to order: the Highland Royale, with hazelnut syrup, espresso, steamed milk, and your choice of homemade blackberry, caramel, chocolate, toasted marshmallow or regular whipped cream.

What to order: the Ganache Latte, with big pillowy marshmallows and dark chocolate. Make sure you get a chocolate chip cookie too, Please & Thank You is famous for them.

What to order: the espresso. Gralehaus has a fancy-schmancy espresso maker you won’t find anywhere else in town.
Sunergos
What to order: the Black-and-White, iced and blended into a perfect, half dark chocolate half white chocolate coffee smoothie. So sweet and perfect.
Heine Bros
What to order: the Vint Julep, a “Derby favorite featuring smoked bourbon sugar and mint julep sugar from Bourbon Barrel Foods.” Or pictured: the Beekeeper, with local raw honey and cinnamon.
Quills
What to order: the Veloce, a bitter, perfect, sweet, beautiful espresso shot with cream and vanilla syrup.
Sister Bean’s
What to order: the Chai Latte, which one of our writers says tastes like the milk left over after a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
Mrs. Potter’s Coffee Lounge & Café
What to order: the Honey Latte, with espresso, steamed milk and honey. Add a shot of maple spice syrup for extra oomph.
Blackbeard Espresso Food Truck
What to order: espresso, obviously. Or, the CoCoMo, with Sunergos espresso, coconut syrup, Giradelli chocolate and steamed milk topped with extra creamy whipped topping, chocolate sauce and coconut.
