I think there are two types of couples in this world: those who excitedly celebrate Valentine's Day with dinner reservations, flowers, or gifts and those who turn up their noses at this "Hallmark holiday" and refuse to throw any more money its way.
Then there are couples with children. Once kids come into the picture, Valentine's Day morphs into a celebration of the adults' love for the little ones (funny how kids commandeer every aspect of adult lives, even holidays!). Gone are those romantic candlelight dinners. Make room on the fridge for heart-shaped handprint love notes or maybe receive a personalized mug, if you're lucky.
But this year, hipster coffee shop and bakery Please & Thank You offers a bridge between expensive, romantic nights out and a handmade macaroni necklace. Their "Sweetness, You are My Weakness" Valentine's Day promotion goes like this: For only $25, if you live inside I-264, a Please & Thank You staffer will deliver your sweetheart two fresh P&TY chocolate chip cookies, a sustainably-grown long stem rose from local Green Lady florist, a mix CD curated by P&TY owner Jason Pierce and other vinyl-loving staffers, and a special Valentine note.
And have you tried P&TY's chocolate chip cookies? Good grief, they're delicious. Two of these bad boys delivered to your door is almost worth the $25 alone! Almost.
A Please & Thank You staffer will deliver your goodies between 8:00 am-noon or noon-3:00 pm—your choice. And don't be surprised if your deliveryperson has his/her sweetheart along for the ride; Please & Thank You owners are encouraging their cupids to enjoy the holiday with the one they love. After they finish their deliveries, the happy couples will be treated to happy hour at The Silver Dollar. Talk about spreading the love around!
To place your order, stop in Please & Thank You (800 East Market Street) by noon on February 13 or try calling their new shop phone at 502-553-0113.
