Here he comes for one night only…the ringleader of the absurd…maestro of mania…lieutenant of loony…Emo Philips is returning to Louisville for a very special engagement at The Laughing Derby.
For three decades Emo and his unbridled insanity has been lighting up the big and small screen, and criss-crossing the globe bringing unhinged sense of humor to comedy club stages and audiences all over the world. Spewing wacky one-liners with through his high-tenor voice, there’s no way not to fall in a love with peculiar perspective on the world. His outlandish stage persona and marginally dark sense of humor Emo has been one of the most well-respected and beloved comedians in the industry.
Besides his off-beat stage presence and heady material, Emo’s unkempt, shagged-out and disheveled pseudo-bowl cut hair style has become as much of a trademark for him, as being a ginger has for Carrot Top.
It’s like his calling card.
Besides being called “The greatest joke writer in America,” by Jay Leno, he has also landed t.v. and movie roles in off-beat hipster fare like: Weird Al Yankovic’s cult classic “UHF,” as well as appearing as Cuber on the Cartoon Network’s “Adventure Time.” He also was a cast member on “The Weird Al Show,” and played the role of “Emo” on “Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist;” as well as playing Nimrod in the 1988 B-movie, grindhouse take on “Journey to the Center of the Earth” by Jules Verne.
Emo Philips will be returning to Louisville this weekend for an exclusive one night stand at The Laughing Derby. The show will be taking place Sunday August 23rd and will kick-off at 7:15 PM. Tickets are on-sale for $15, this exclusive one night engagement will most likely sell-out – so grab your tickets now.
