Last Saturday saw the Cards suffer their first defeat of the season against Central Florida. Ironically throughout the entire game the Cards seemed poised for yet another notch in a perfect season, ostensibly commanding the game.

It wasn’t until the third quarter that Central Florida returned with thunderous force, capitalizing on a number of Cards mistakes that led to the underdog Central Florida to claim their biggest win in school history by a field goal.
This made the Cards 6-1 in the season, and 2-1 in conference play, it also dropped them to 20th in the country, meanwhile UCF is now at 23rd.

Shaken but not stirred the Cards try to put that loss behind them as they travel to Tampa, Florida on Saturday to square off with long time rival, South Florida. The game will be broadcast live at noon on ESPN2.

South Florida is coming into Saturday’s game with a 2-4 record, coming off a victory at UConn.

Meanwhile, Kentucky delivered a strong performance against Mississippi State yesterday, but not strong enough as they went down 28-22. Slowly but surely, new Cats coach Mark Stoops has been trying to get a rhythm going as Kentucky gets deeper in the season and looking towards next year, and the team has shown signs of life throughout the year which could prove promising.

That said, they are currently 1-6, with their only victory coming against Miami of Ohio. Kentucky will be coming back home for the next contest as they face off against Alabama State for a 7:30 game next Saturday at Commonwealth.
Alabama state is currently 5-2 consequently, with wins against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Grambling State, Alcorn State, Texas Southern, and Prarie View A&M. They will also face off against inner-state rivals when they meet Alabama A&M tomorrow at 2:30.

Meanwhile, Western Kentucky is preparing for their own game tomorrow against Troy University at home, which has a kick off time off 3:00.

The Hilltoppers will be coming off a loss at Louisiana Lafeyette last Tuesday, and are currently 4-3 in the season.

    About Dave Rose

Recently, I completed a Masters degree in Education and have been writing for Louisville.com for over a year now, prior to that I published a humor book for young adults titled Wearing Socks with Sandals, a book about getting through high school, college, and all of the requisite problems that present themselves during that time. Currently, I spend much of my time in classroom settings as well as writing in various areas. Of course, I’m a big sports fan and love music and film, and love finding new stuff around Louisville.
