The University of Louisville football team has been ranked as the top seed in the AAC going into this upcoming season.
The Cards’ will play only one season in the upstart league formed from remaining Big East and various other conference teams prior to officially joining the ACC, however the American Athletic Conference has overwhelmingly given their collective nod to the Cardinals winning out the conference.
That said however, Louisville coach Charlie Strong in a recent press conference stated how difficult the Cards road would be this season due to strong competition in the conference.
Meanwhile, with strong recruits and a solid returning core Kentucky football head coach Mark Stoops, plans to make his first season in Lexington one of the best in recent Cat memory, and when one looks at the work the new coach has been doing that seems very plausible.
As the Cats are counting down to their opening contest against Western Kentucky August 31st, in Nashville, many area football fans will no doubt remember that the Hilltoppers upset the Cats last season.
Incidentally, Western Kentucky has a first year coach of their own who has been working hard to improve his reputation nationally in Bobby Petrino. Many Louisville fans are still sore at the coach, who in their eyes deserted the Cards during his successful (up to that point) tenure with the Cards.
That said it makes August 31st’s game all the more interesting.
