Going into Temple Saturday afternoon, the Cards were undefeated with wins over Ohio, Eastern Kentucky, and Florida International. The Owls marked the Cards first conference game though, as they went in trying to make their own mark in the AAC.

Most speculators have picked the Cards to win out the conference, and Louisville began working on making those speculations realizations on Saturday, as they grabbed the “W” with a final score of 30-7, keeping the Cards undefeated as their record stands at 4-0 as they look towards a Thursday night home game against Rutgers.

In recent years, Rutgers has been one of Louisville’s biggest hurdles beginning when both teams were part of the Big East; this year the university in New Jersey is 4-1, only losing their season opener to Fresno State; their victories came from Norfolk State, Eastern Michigan, Arkansas, and SMU.

This matchup will be broadcast live on ESPN at 7:30.

For the Cards, Heisman hopeful Teddy Bridgewater threw for 348 yards against Temple and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, in South Carolina, Kentucky attempted an upset against the Gamecocks in their last outing, but fell short in a close one 35-28. That marks the Cats record as 1-4, with losses to Western Kentucky, Louisville, and Florida as well as South Carolina, their victory came against Miami (Ohio).

Kentucky will head back home this Saturday as they continue to face top tier competition, this week they meet Alabama, for a 7:00 game, which will be aired on ESPN 2.

This game will be followed by Kentucky squaring off against Mississippi State, Alabama State, Missouri, Vanderbilt, Georgia and Tennessee.

Then, in news from Bowling Green, Western Kentucky is coming off a Thursday victory at Louisiana-Monroe making their current record 4-2, their other wins coming from Navy, Morgan State, and Kentucky; conversely they had losses against both Tennessee and South Alabama.

The Hilltoppers are currently preparing for a game tonight at 7 against Louisiana-Lafeyette which is set for a kick-off time of 7, and will be broadcast live on ESPN 2 nationally.

    About Dave Rose

Recently, I completed a Masters degree in Education and have been writing for Louisville.com for over a year now, prior to that I published a humor book for young adults titled Wearing Socks with Sandals, a book about getting through high school, college, and all of the requisite problems that present themselves during that time. Currently, I spend much of my time in classroom settings as well as writing in various areas. Of course, I’m a big sports fan and love music and film, and love finding new stuff around Louisville.
