For the first time ever, Louisville is hosting a festival geared toward young filmmakers. The Louisville Free Public Library is currently seeking submissions for the debut of its Louisville Young Filmmakers Festival. Aspiring young local filmmakers are encouraged to submit their own original works. They will premiere and be viewed at a red-carpet event at the Main Library on Friday, March 15, at 6 p.m. Filmmakers must be Louisville residents ages 12-19 to participate.
This proves to be a great experience for Louisville's youth. The Louisville Free Public Library is constantly thinking outside of the box to include programming that will be current and interesting to teens, and they have proven themselves once again with this idea. Personally having had worked for this great library system, I am eagerly awaiting the results of this dynamic program and am overly supportive of positive, engaging partnerships with our youth!
Films on any topic or genre are accepted as long as they are G or PG-rated and suitable for a teen audience. Films should be no longer than 15 minutes in length. Submissions can be turned in, along with a completed entry form, at any Louisville Free Public Library location and should be on a separate flash-drive or disc addressed to the attention of “Michael Ward – Louisville Young Filmmakers Festival.”
