A former children’s librarian who can’t stop talking about libraries…that’s me! I am starting a new weekly feature called “Library Life” and it will bring you the weekend’s library events happening around the area, from Louisville to Prospect to New Albany and places in between. Let’s get started with this weekend’s featured library happenings, brought to you by a Louisville Free Public Library insider.

    Friday, June 27, 2 p.m.

The Main Library in downtown Louisville is hosting a “Meet a T-Rex” at a special dinosaur storytime. If I were in town, my toddler and I would be there. One of the dinosaurs from the show Dinosaur Zoo Live will be at the library for a meet-n-greet (do dinosaurs do meet-n-greets or is it more like roar-n-scare?).

The Main Library is located at 301 York Street. Call 502-574-1620 for more information.

    Friday, June 27, 3:30 p.m.

The Jeffersonville Township Public Library is hosting a “Totally Irresponsible Science for TEENS!” program from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the youth services activity room. Teens can watch some edgy experiments and walk away with some new tricks to try themselves.

The Jeffersonville Library is located at 211 East Court Avenue. Call 812-285-5636 for more information.

    Saturday, June 28, 10:30 a.m.

The Crescent Hill Library is hosting a “Resting in Peace: Civil War Leaders in Cave Hill Cemetery” program at 10:30 a.m. Learn about some of the Civil War leaders and heroes whose resting place is here in Louisville during this lecture-driven program by Bryan Bush.

The library is located at 2762 Frankfort Avenue. Call 502-574-1793 for more information.

    Saturday, June 28, 2 p.m.

The Main Library of Oldham County Public Library is hosting a “Science Matters” program from 2-3 p.m. In this program, see wacky live science and crazy carbon dioxide!

The library is located at 308 Yager Avenue in LaGrange. Call 502-222-9713 for more information.

    Sunday, June 29, All Day

If you are in need of some computer help, the Southwest Branch Library (LFPL) offers computer help by appointment. Call 502-933-0029. The library is located at 10375 Dixie Highway.
