Spring has sprung and it is time to revel in the beauty of our state. Take pleasure among the rolling hills and immaculate landscaping of indigenous flora and fauna of Bernheim. Located in Claremont, KY, just south of Louisville down I-65, Bernheim is the perfect day-escape with the family. As always, admission is free, but cars must pay a $5 environmental impact fee for crossing the gate. Check out the listing of events in early April (just around the corner) below.
Pollywog Play Parties: Little Green Thumbs-- Saturday, April 2 from 10:30-12:00 in the Education Center, the pollywogs will explore the recycling process with music, art, language, and outside play. Registration is required, call (502) 955-8512 for more info.
Eco Kids Discover Days: Garden Party-- Saturday, April 2 from 1-4:00 in the Visitor Center, families will explore the day-time sky. Stations will guide families on their own in ways to observe the sun, clouds, and sky.
Adopt at Tree-- On Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3 from 9:00-3:00 in the Research Center, families can adopt a tree that can be planted in your yard, school, or community. In honor of Arbor Day, Bernheim will be giving away 1-2” saplings of dogwood, Kentucky coffeetree, a variety of other indigenous oaks and more. Bring gardening and planting questions to ask the expert Bernheim horticulture staff and hike the vast tree-lined trails while you’re at it. The weekend will include tree planting and care demos, Q&A with expert horticulturists, tree planting activities, and info on the Emerald Ash Borer.
