Beauty and the Beast brings together the beauty Belle, an unusual girl who enjoys reading and dreams of life beyond her village, with The Beast, a prince with anger issues imprisoned in his ugly skin and his castle thanks to a curse. In order to break the curse, The Beast must fall in love, and the love must be returned, before the rose he is given loses its bloom.
The musical started out as a traditional fairy tale before becoming a real-life action movie and then, in 1991, becoming a Disney animated musical. That movie won two Academy Awards. The stage version of Beauty and the Beast opened in 1994 on Broadway and spent more than a decade there.
Before the April 10 show, students in preschool through sixth grade can participate in the Be Our Guest pre-show. From 12 p.m.-1:30 p.m., kids can take part in crafts, pictures with cast members, and snacks. The pre-show event is $10 per student. More information on this can be found by calling the high school at 812-945-2538 ext. 328.
