This ain't Sesame Street. Instead, it's Avenue Q, which Centerstage will present beginning Thursday.
Avenue Q will go on Apr. 11, 13, 18, 22, and 27 at 7:30 p.m., and a show on Apr. 21 will happen at 7 p.m. Matinees, meanwhile, are to take place on Apr. 14, 21, 25, and 28 at 2 p.m. each day. All performances will occur at Jewish Community Center of Louisville at 3600 Dutchmans Lane in the Highlands.
Advance tickets are $18 per person, and tickets sold at the door are $20 per person. All advance tickets can be purchased at the Centerstage website or by calling 502-459-0660. More information on the show can also be found at the Centerstage website. Keep in mind, the production features mature themes and is not intended for children.
Filled with humor, music, and parody, Avenue Q is essentially the adult version, and almost exact opposite, of Sesame Street. On Avenue Q, the puppets and humans are all dealing with the realities of life despite initially believing they were special, as Sesame Street told them. Puppets and humans alike share in songs like The Internet is for Porn, Everyone's a Little Bit Racist, and It Sucks to Be Me, among others.
John Leffert directed Avenue Q, which Jeff Marx, Robert Lopez, and Jeff Whitty created. Brian Morris, Jordan Price, and Katie Nuss will perform in the production.
Avenue Q is the final show of Centerstage's 2012-13 season. Centerstage will open the 2013-14 season with Legally Blonde in July.
