It’s no secret that Louisville is for bourbon lovers. In addition to being a major business hub, we’re also a world-class travel destination. We have some of the best foodie spots around, most of them involving bourbon as a food group.
But what if you’re new to both Louisville and the bourbon scene? Enter the Whiskey and Whimsy Summer Retreat 2014, hosted by Kerrie Blazek. This four-day, three-night getaway is almost all-inclusive and will take place August 7-10, 2014. Accommodations will be the swanky lofts of the fabulous Glassworks building, right in the heart of everything that is happening downtown.
Most meals will be included, as will the opportunity to explore on your own a bit. The schedule for Friday starts with a continental breakfast and then an excursion into bourbon country on a Mint Julep Tours bus. The stops include Maker’s Mark and Jim Beam, two of the larger distilleries in the region. As an added bonus, there is a Chihuly installation in one of the rack houses at Maker’s Mark. If you get to see it, I will be happy for you while completely jealous at the same time.
There will be many guest speakers, including Fred Minnick, author of Whiskey Women. There will be outings on the town to taste cocktails made especially for the Whiskey and Whimsy group. Drink bourbon, explore the culinary capital of Kentucky, and learn to live your life on your own terms. Oh yeah, and that free time you’ll have on Friday night? May I suggest buying tickets to the Whisky Chicks fundraiser right down the street at The Evan Williams Experience? You can thank me later.
This promises to be a one-of-a-kind adventure of a lifetime. Kerrie is a fun-loving “pleasure catalyst and life strategist” who is sure to show you a great time. You can tweet her @KerrieBlazek if you have any questions, or you can purchase your tickets here.
