    Bit to Do

Saturday afternoon, ability lit up the auditorium at duPont Manual High School as over 80 children from the Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies took to the stage for the 10th anniversary of the charity's Holiday Fashion Show. The gathering, which held its first show in a church basement on Lowe Road in 2003, saw a large crowd fill the seats, family members of the participants and those with the charity in the majority. Local personality Kirby Adams and WHAS-TV’s Michelle Arnold emceed the fashion show, participating in a sketch where two bouncers prevented them from taking the stage, in spite of the duo being guests of the DJ, N2iT’s Roy Harrison.

Once past the velvet rope, Adams and Arnold introduced each of the 80 children participating in the show, each one escorted by their sponsor and a cheerleader from Bullitt East High School. Whether they rolled, walked or were carried, the models displayed their ability before the audience while looking fabulous in their outfits donated to each child by Macy’s with the help of their sponsors.

During intermission, two of the models were honored for their participation in the Holiday Fashion Show every year since the first event in 2003. Both Katy Collins and Sophie Smith were presented with flowers in thanks for their shared milestone. Following the brief acknowledgement, the Kids Center Firecrackers cheerleading squad, with help from the Bullitt East cheerleaders, entertained the audience before a small break and the start of the second half of the show.

Aside from the fashion show, a silent auction was held in the back of the auditorium, where attendees could also purchase handmade heart pins by Kids Center Board of Trustee Dr. Ronald Lehocky, as well as sign up to participate in the charity’s Walk & Roll for Kids, currently set for mid-May 2013 at Fourth Street Live.
