    Bit to Do

Feast your eyes upon Donutopia at the Walk MS Kick Off Saturday
    Print this page

Saturday morning, teams will gather at Drinkswell on 1201 Story Ave. to build their own donutopias for the third annual Walk MS Team Building Krispy Kreme Creations competition, the kick-off party for the 2013 Walk MS Louisville at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium later this May, benefiting the Kentucky-Southeast Indiana Chapter of the National MS Society. Teams will have 30 minutes to build whatever their imaginations desire, while various local personalities from WHAS-TV, 102.3 The Max and Louisville.com, dignitaries, and MS friends and clients will judge the entries. Everyone will also have a chance to meet individuals with multiple sclerosis, and to learn more about the degenerative condition that affects more than 5,000 in Kentucky, and 2.1 million worldwide.

The first Walk MS took place Minneapolis, Minn. a quarter-century ago when the organizers found their inspiration in the multiple sclerosis movement. Since that time, more than 330,000 participants have raised over $50 million each year at several events within the United States for the National MS Society. The Walk MS is the rallying point for the MS community, building and strengthening personal connections in contrast to the internal connections the disease short-circuits and destroys.

Krispy Kreme, a long-time sponsor of Walk MS Louisville, will provide building materials for the teams to use in their donutopiatastic creations, and prizes will be given to the best displays. Donuts, pancakes, coffee, juice and water will be on hand to keep competitors, judges and the public going through the morning. The kick off party will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., while the donut building competition commences at 10.

For more information, questions or to RSVP as a team, contact Mary Carabella at 502-526-5303, or via email at mary.carabella@nmss.org. You can also keep up via the local chapter's Facebook page for changes and other information.
