Cupcakes were once so trendy, and have now perhaps fallen by the wayside in favor of trendier desserts. But we still love a good cupcake, and here are a few fantastic ones from the Louisville area. This is by no means a comprehensive list, so if we've missed your favorite cupcake, tell us about it in the comments.

    1. Orange Creamsicle Cupcakes from Copper Cupcake

Orange cake with orange buttercream. The best cupcake to eat while dreaming about summer.

    2. Vegan Mint Chocolate Chip Cupcakes from Annie May's Sweet Cafe

Annie May's is really great about providing sweets for vegans, or the gluten-intolerant, or those with food allergies.

    3. Lemon Dream Supreme Cupcakes from GiGi's Cupcakes

Lemon cake, lemon frosting, candy lemon on top: zesty and zingy.

    4. Cannoli Cupcake from Adrienne & Co Bakery and Cafe

A moist yellow cake filled with cannoli cream and topped with chocolate chips and cannoli shell. One of their cupcakes of the week...perhaps you should beg them to bring it back. Their regular cupcakes are out-of-this-world good, with sweet almond oil in the frosting.

    5. Warm Caramel Upsidedown Cupcake from the Homemade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen

With a scoop of butter pecan ice cream and twice as much caramel frosting as you'd get on a non-upside-down cupcake; a to-die-for treat.

    6. Jelly Donut Muffins filled with Apricot Jam from Wiltshire Pantry

Not a cupcake, you say? We beg to differ. The difference between a muffin and a cupcake is...what exactly? They're only calling it a muffin so you can justify eating it for breakfast, trust me.

    7. Guinness Chocolate Cupcakes from the Bakery at Sullivan University

With Bailey's buttercream. St. Patrick's Day might be over but your celebration doesn't have to be.
