    Empty Bowls 2012

What are you doing this Thursday night? Would you like to help feed the hungry by eating delicious soup and bidding on fantastic baskets of goodies? Well, you’re in luck because this Thursday is the 16th annual Empty Bowls at Bellarmine University!

Brought to you by Highlands Community Ministries (HCM), this national idea is a bottomless soup dinner and pottery sale which benefits the less fortunate in our community. HCM runs programs that feed the hungry, including Child and Adult Day Care, the Senior Center, Meals on Wheels, and the Food Pantry. Proceeds from this dinner will directly benefit these programs in our city.

There will be 15 scrumptious soup donations from local chefs and restaurants, including two pots from Sullivan University chef instructors Katie Payne and Danielle DeMare Gleason, and gorgeous bowls, handcrafted and donated by 17 local potters. $10 for soup only, $25 for soup and a beautiful handmade bowl to take home! Fruit and desserts, mostly donated by the Sullivan University Bakery, will also be included in the dinner.

A silent auction will take place, including some tempting gift baskets donated by local churches and donations to bid on from local businesses, including my own. My item is an in-home cooking class for up to 6 people, and I sure hope it pulls in some huge bids!

“The bowl and a simple meal of soup, bread, cheese and fruit stand as a reminder for us all to support Highlands Community Ministries (HCM) in its efforts to end hunger in our community.” - HCM

Empty Bowls will be from 5:30 to 8 PM in Frazier Hall at Bellarmine University on Thursday, October 11th.

No reservations required, but for tickets or for more information, please call (502) 451-5906.
