Spring is here! That means being able to get outdoors for exercise, again. Louisville is a great place for outdoor biking, hiking, or running.

Participating in a 5K is a great way to get out and explore Louisville while getting your grind on, too! Listed below are some of the 5K options for you to run in this spring (through June 20)!

    Louisville Neon Vibe — April 25, 2014

This night-time color run 5K will be one of the best around. Through Iroquois Park, this run will be full of fun, with an after party that will keep the energy going for hours. A registration fee of $45 will get you access to the run and a glow stick, plus a tee-shirt.

    Throo the Zoo — May 10, 2014

This 5K is exactly what it sounds like, a run through the Louisville Zoo. Starting at 8am, you can get a close up look at all the animals while you race your way through the course. This race is open to families, runners, and walkers alike, who will all gain access to the zoo for the entire day, receive a free tee shirt, snacks, and more with the $30 early registration fee!

Saint Matthews Street Festival — May 17, 2014

For the third straight year, St. Matthews will host this 5K. The early fee is $20, and the late registration is a mere $25. This is definitely a race for beginners, and you can enjoy a shuttle service to the street festival after you cross the finish line. The first 300 entrants get a free t-shirt, so hurry!

The Stampede Mud Run — May 17, 2014

This mud run is for the individual or the whole family. Starting at 9am on Old Heady Road, this 5K will push you to your limits with obstacles like 10 foot walls to go through. Rain or shine, this race is on — and be prepared to get muddy either way. Early registration is $35, normal is $45, and late is $70, so get on it!

    The Glo Run — May 24, 2014

Probably the most highly anticipated 5K of the year, this race is going to be epic. You’ll race through the waterfront while sporting a free tee shirt and sunglasses (if you have a group of 5). The race doesn’t start until 9:30pm, and the DJ starts just 20 minutes after that; there’s even a costume contest around 11. The entry fee is $50, but if you register ASAP, you have a chance to get 25% off. So hurry now and register!
