Grammy Award winning band Wolfmother is riding high coming off the banging 3rd studio release New Crown and headlining their own US tour after a far too long a hiatus.

One of the fine perks of this beat besides you, my thousands of adoring fans, has got to be the chances I get to actually speak to the artists.  Thanks to the patient folks at 5B Artist Management and McManus Entertainment, I had the pleasure of speaking to Wolfmother's founder, only original member and amazing rock-an-roller Andrew Stockdale recently.  While we tried to connect whilst they were in St. Louis, we managed to thankfully sync up just after their Houston stop and just prior to their Baton Rouge gig.  Having had the day off Andrew seemed pretty rested, a bit festive, and appreciatively candid.

For the first album in 5 years, and recording with 2 new members, Stockdale led the studio charge to capture the vibe of a live performance.  He said they literally set up the studio, with monitors and the chaps physically all together (rather than a booth setting for example) and played as if they would live.  The resulting sound and energy is amazing and still hasn't gotten old for me after 2 months.

Sure the boring, played-out comparisons to Black Sabbath and Zeppelin are likely still floating around but the range that new album gives certainly leads to some more funky Jack White feeling grooves.  From a set list perspective he hinted that we'll still get that delicious taste of the old morsels, with specials from a rotating list off the new album.  Thus far the tour has been "amaaaaazing!" and I'm confident we can keep the momentum going here in Louisville. In Houston, there may even have been some sticky icky thrown on the stage and some bosoms bared, so let's get it going for this trio of triumph my dear disciples of awesome.

Andrew couldn't quite recall if they'd been here before and since I was away for so long the last time I caught them was in '05 (I think) in Brooklyn.  That simply means if we don't make this memorable, we all suck!  Ridiculously you can still get tickets but after this article gets out, you had best run to Al Gore's interwebs via that link below and scoop yours.  See you there, offerings are up to you and I'm picturing a raucous atmosphere like the infield on Derby.
