In just over a year, Houndmouth have literally exploded onto the global music scene.  Having played The Forecastle Festival back in July, launched a 4 song EP in August, bounced around touring the past few months and found time to play at Rye recently, they return with a highly anticipated show at Headliners tomorrow night.

Hailing originally from just across the river, the group is comprised of Katie Toupin, Matt Myers, Zak Abbleby, and Shane Cody.  Locally, they have really gained significant popularity with a grassroots sound that really speaks to the soul.  In addition to the EP, the band is looking to put out a full length record next year, working with local production wizard Kevin Ratterman.  If it is anything like the EP, it will be stellar.  Houndmouth really has the folk/rock thing down and I’m looking quite forward to tomorrow as you all should be too.

Landing with label Rough Trade Records for the EP, the company they’re keeping is astounding.  Alabama Shakes, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, The Strokes, & even My Morning Jacket are just some of their label mates.  To that affect, they have recently gotten some airplay internationally on the BBC as well.  If none of this impresses you in the least, then you just don’t get it and I’d advise you to stay home anyway.
