With the warm summertime weather moving out and the cool autumn breezes quickly flowing in, it’s finally the perfect time to change your home décor from the bright colorful themes of summer to the cozy neutrals of fall. It seems as though everyone is excitedly adjusting everything from their home welcome mats to the flavor of their coffee creamer in preparation for the upcoming fall season. But one thing that always seems to be overlooked when it comes time for a home seasonal makeover is the wine collection.
Most wine lovers seem to find their favorite type of wine and buy it repeatedly. Because why stray from what you already know is delicious?
Louisville native and Master Sommelier, Scott Harper from the Bristol Bar & Grille knows the facts when it comes to great wine and he’s ready to share with Louisville why a seasonal shift of flavors is necessary for every wine rack.
On Wednesday, September 23rd, Harper will be partnering with the Sheraton Louisville Riverside Hotel for a one-of-a-kind wine tasting. Along with sampling some of the most delicious wines from Italy, France and Napa Valley, guests will learn about the production of wine in different regions, and just what certain climates can offer to a wine’s distinctive flavor.
And if the promise of wine wasn’t tempting enough, there will also be a silent auction of items donated by local businesses. A portion of the proceeds of this event will be donated to the Sotherly Foundation and the United States Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment.
These two organizations will use these proceeds in funding a new home for an injured Marine who suffered a severe brain injury when an explosion occurred near his vehicle in Afghanistan in 2011. Because of his tragic injury, this American hero was forced to medically retire from the military and his wife has become his full-time caregiver.
Admission to this event which will begin at 7pm on September 23 at the Sheraton Louisville Riverside Hotel, is $50 per person. Each ticket includes four wine samples and a reception wine. For more information and to make a reservation, call 812-206-7160.
