    Headliners for Hope: Celebrity Bartenders at Old 502

    Join local celebrities and Brides Against Breast Cancer for Headliners for Hope presented by Norton Healthcare. We have gathered 16 of the most influential professionals in the area to bartend for an hour each to see who can raise the most funds for men, women and children impacted by cancer. $35 (advance ticket/donation) $45 (at door) for unlimited beer, wine, Tito’s vodka, and light bites.

    Celebrate National Bourbon Heritage Month With Free Tours, Tastings at the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience During First Friday Trolley Hop

    The Evan Williams Bourbon Experience, located on Louisville’s historic “Whiskey Row,” is celebrating National Bourbon Heritage Month by hosting the First Friday Trolley Hop’s Featured Event on Friday, September 5, 2014. The festivities will include a complimentary walk-through of the artisanal distillery and visitor’s center, in addition to educational bourbon tastings for guests of legal drinking age. Max Shapira, President of Heaven Hill Distilleries, Inc., and Charlie Downs, Artisanal Distiller of the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience, will be on hand for bottle signings and photo opportunities with Trolley Hop guests. Fred Minnick, author of Whiskey Women: The Untold Story of How Women Saved Bourbon, Scotch, and Irish Whiskey, will also be in attendance signing copies of his book in the retail shop. Free appetizers and refreshments will be served, and each guest will have an opportunity to win an assortment of door prizes, including various bourbon-themed items and a pair of 2-day tickets to the Louder than Life music festival.

    Send off Summer at the Jim Beam American Stillhouse
    Jim Beam is sending the summer off in style with bourbon, barbecue and country music at the distillery’s Jim Beam American Stillhouse! Bourbon lovers from near and far are invited to spend the afternoon as part of the Beam family while enjoying mouth-watering barbecue from Fred’s Smokehouse and live country music on the lawn all afternoon. Fans can also get an exclusive inside look at how the world’s No.1 bourbon whiskey is made, with samples of “America’s Native Spirit” being poured for guests of legal drinking age. The festivities kick off at noon, and country music will be performed live throughout the day. Special raffle drawings will take place every half hour, awarding guests the chance to win free distillery tours and branded Jim Beam® apparel.

    Botanica Art & Garden 2014 at the Woman’s Club of Louisville
    Botanica, Inc. presents Art & Garden 2014. This event will present local artists and artwork for sale, showcasing botanicals in photography and paintings, and speakers and demos on related topics. Art will be exhibited and sold throughout the first floor of the Woman’s Club on Saturday, Sept 6 from 10 am to 5 pm. Speakers and demonstrations will be scheduled every hour throughout the day in the Woman’s Club. Barbara Pierson, White Flower Farm’s Nursery Manager from Litchfield, CT, will be our highlighted speaker for the event. Food and Beverage will be available for purchase the day of the event.

    September Art Fair at Mellwood Arts Center
    Mellwood is excited that the Sixth Annual September Art Fair is finally here! This year, we will have 165 artists taking part in the show. Many of them have never shown before in Louisville and hail from as far away as Georgia. While you’re here, stop in the newly- opened Café Bristol on the Art Center’s breezeway. They will offer a full bar and serve up hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, and more. Café Java will also be open, serving specialty coffees and other warm, tasty beverages. Both days, live entertainment will be featured on the outdoor stage including acts such as Heather Renee and Fleur-de-list Ballet Academy In addition to these offerings, GALLOPALOOZA will be set up at the Art Fair, displaying various horse statues and selling merchandise with a look ahead toward GALLOPALOOZA 2015.

    International Observe the Moon Night
    Join the Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium and Louisville Astronomical Society (LAS) in celebrating the International Observe the Moon Night. The evening begins at 7:30 PM with a ride in the planetarium’s virtual spaceship to get up close and personal with our nearest neighbor, the moon. At 8:30 PM LAS members will have telescopes set up in the courtyard for live observing. Don’t worry if Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate - the exploration can continue in the dome.
