Wendy Williams is a pop-culture maven that has been known for her brash opinions and regular feuds on social media with celebrities she may have offended on one of her countless, unfiltered rants.

She is the host of her own television and radio show – recent, she has become less recognized for her controversial interviews and more for her turn into stand-up comedy.  Williams didn’t start doing stand-up until she was nearly 50 years old, fulfilling a promise to herself that it was something she would try before she turned 50.  After gaining confidence in front of crowds by doing book reading and speaking engagements, Williams realized that stand-up was a deeply seeded dream and an art form she always admired.  She'd never managed to muster the courage to pursue comedy until she realized that life is short, and you’re never good at something you don’t try.  She soon began gigging around New York clubs, quickly becoming an audience favorite and earning the respect of fellow stand-ups who had been on stage for years.

New Jersey born and raised, she graduated from Northeastern University where she began working as a radio DJ.  The popularity of her radio show led to several more jobs in broadcasting once she graduated college.  With experience she honed a brash interview rapport and harsh opinions, Williams managed to keep people checking in day after day.  Eventually, her success and fresh approach to broadcasting led to a syndication deal for her radio show and a long-running syndicated talk show.

Wendy Williams “Sit Down Tour…Too Real for Stand Up” will be in Louisville performing at The Palace Theater August 27th.  The show will begin at 7:30 PM and tickets are still available for $71.50.

    About Brent Owen

Born and raised in Louisville, I have lived here most of my life (except during a short furlough, when I, lovelorn and naive, followed a girl to Baton Rouge). My roots are here, my family, my friends, and my life are all here. I work primarily as a free-lance writer for a few local and regional publications. I have also written two books (one a memoir, the other a novel) that barring some divine intervention, will probably never see the light of day. I find myself deeply ingrained in the local bar scene, or perhaps better said, I often indulge in the local drinking culture. I love music, movies, comedy, and really just about any other live performance art.
