Join the community-wide “Pink Out” on Wednesday, October 5th in celebration of this Saturday’s Komen Louisville Race for the Cure. If your wardrobe is devoid of pink, visit the new Komen Store in Oxmoor Center to find something to wear. The store is located on the mezzanine near Subway and is open through Friday, October 7 between 10-8 daily.
Whether or not you wear pink on Wednesday, consider joining the crowds at the Race for the Cure on Saturday morning. The Race for the Cure raises funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrates breast cancer survivorship, and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease. The 5K race and 1 mile family walk are taking place at Waterfront Park on Saturday, October 8, 2011. The 5K begins at 9:00 AM and the 1 mile walk begins at 9:30.
Come early to enjoy the Race Village, Parade of Pink, the Survivor Photo, and more. Individual registration is still open and starts at $25 for adults, and $15 for youth.
Unable to race but still want to support the cause? Register to Sleep In for the Cure instead. Your $35 donation will get you a t-shirt and a chance to win a mattress set from Sleep Outfitters.
All funds from the Komen Race for the Cure go to research, education, screening and treatment programs.
